Florida Public Employees Partnership - or Florida PEP - is a nonprofit grassroots political action organization dedicated to improving and protecting the quality of life for working families and struggling citizens all across the state.
We are a diverse group of long-time public servants, who after years of dedicated service to our state and fellow Floridians, watched in horror as a new breed of politicians turned public sector programs, services and employees into scapegoats for an unjust tax system and failed economic policies.
We watched as elected officials sworn to serve the public's best interests seemed intent on discrediting and "privatizing" the public sector, rather than making it work better.
And so in 2011 Florida PEP sprang into existence, out of what we believe is the critical need for the Sunshine State's millions of working and middle class citizens to reject the politics of diversion and divisiveness, and unite in common cause:
To improve and protect the quality of life for all Floridians, by protecting and preserving the availability, quality and integrity of public sector services that we all depend on.
We who are Florida PEP; teachers, police officers, bus drivers, firefighters, janitors, water & sewer workers, office workers, some in unions and many who are not - along with so many of our family members, friends and neighbors; we still have high hopes for the future of our state.
We believe that by empowering ourselves as members of this new coalition of unity, by working across partisan lines, union and non-union lines, and socioeconomic lines, we can put a stop to the endless political bickering and finger-pointing, and start getting things done.
We aim to hold our elected officials, state and municipal laws, government agencies and programs, all to the highest standards of Fairness, Effectiveness, Efficiency and Integrity.
