By: A Frustrated St. Lucie County School Teacher – shared on Florida Public Employees Facebook page
Sent to administrators in St Lucie County (School District) today… right after the district declared impasse.
I am seriously ready to just walk away from this distinct. Just walk in tomorrow and clean out my desk and go back to programming or Disney. Sixteen years means nothing next to this slap in the face.
Could they be any more disrespectful to their faculty or staff? It is very honest of them to fail to mention that teachers were offered this ONE TIME bonus along with a PERMANENT cut to benefits th…at would have cost the average teacher over $3000 a year – more for our newer teachers who also happen to be at the bottom of the pay scale.
On top of a 5 year pay freeze that allowed the board to pad the unspent fund account without making any other cuts – like the 2 million that they pay to an outside law firm or the far above average salaries our district administration makes.
I am sorry I lack the necessary vocabulary to respond with anything other than a hearty FUCK YOU to the board. Maybe I’ll be in tomorrow, maybe not. Next week is definitely looking iffy…
