Statement by Florida Senate Majority Leader Andy Gardiner on Governor Scott’s State of the State Address
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Senate Majority Leader Andy Gardiner, R-Orlando,released the following statement regarding Governor Scott’s 2012 State of the State Address:
“The Governor is beginning 2012 with added experience and a new openness. Today, he set a tone of cooperation, and Senate Republicans look forward to working with him to tackle the difficult-yet-necessary tasks ahead and continue toward a stable and prosperous Florida. It was through collaboration with the Governor last year that we were able to balance Florida’s budget despite a nearly $4 billion shortfall, and we join him again in efforts to create a more efficient government.
“We share the Governor’s commitment to education and to reforming our state’s auto insurance industry, cracking down on the rampant fraud that comes at the consumer’s expense.
“Job growth over this past year is a sign that Florida’s efforts to attract private sector businesses are paying off. In keeping with the Governor’s goals, we need to continue encouraging that process to allow businesses and not just jobs but careers to flourish.
“We join the Governor in a common care and concern for our state. The best is yet to come, and we look forward to working with him to build promise and opportunity for future generations.”
