Fraternal Order Police (FOP/Miami-Dade Schools Police) officers remove two firearms from school grounds.

Monday January 13, 2014, an armed trespasser was arrested on campus. Pursuant to arrest it was revealed the subject was in possession of a concealed firearm.

Tuesday January 14, 2014, a second firearm was impounded on campus.  School Police continue to investigate.

FOP Lodge 133-President Howard Giraldo states;  “As youth violence and school shootings dominate headlines, the FOP stands committed to work with Miami-Dade County Public Schools district officials to retain officers and ensure safety.”

The FOP continues to negotiate with the Miami-Dade County Public Schools to correct a disparate pay scale forcing officers to seek employment with neighboring police departments offering industry standard pay.
